Renowned Climate Leader On Cammie Croft: She Has “Most Dynamic And Well-Thought-Out Energy Platform Of Any Congressional Candidate In America”

MONTCLAIR, NEW JERSEY –Today, Cammie Croft, public servant, Montclair mom of three, and national energy affordability leader, announced the backing of Bill McKibben, author and environmentalist.

McKibben is the founder of 350.org and one of the most influential voices in the global climate movement. McKibben praised Croft’s energy agenda as a model for the country — one that directly takes on rising utility costs while rapidly expanding clean, affordable power.

“Cammie Croft may have the most dynamic and well-thought-out energy platform of any Congressional candidate in America,” said Bill McKibben. “She understands that rising energy prices mean we need to abandon the Trump approach (unlimited data centers, no solar power) and instead turn to the lowest-cost sources of electricity so that ratepayers get a break. And it’s not just a plan–she’s demonstrated, in her years in the Obama White House and as a nonprofit campaigner for clean energy, that she understands the intricacies and vested interests that bedevil our energy system. She’s exactly the kind of champion we need in DC. New Jersey is where the solar cell was invented–at Bell Labs, in 1954. The Garden State can do the country and the planet another huge favor by sending this jolt of political energy off to Washington.”

Cammie’s campaign is centered on a bold, practical plan to lower utility bills by dramatically expanding clean energy supply while holding powerful interests accountable for driving up costs. Her energy agenda includes:

    • Free solar for everyone who will plug into the grid, helping to increase the supply of clean, affordable electricity
    • Making data centers pay their fair share, as they drive increased electricity demand in NJ
    • Tying utility executive pay to rate hikes, ending the practice of monopoly utilities rewarding CEOs while customers face double-digit bill increases

Cammie has spent her career working at the intersection of policy, affordability, and climate action. In the Obama White House, she worked to make the Affordable Care Act a reality. More recently, she spent years building the national clean energy nonprofit Rewiring America, which was helping working families save money on their energy bills, until the organization was targeted by Trump in 2025.

    ABOUT CAMMIE
Raised in a small railroad town, Cammie Croft was the first in her immediate family to graduate from college and has spent more than two decades in public service. Her Jersey mom–a woman who was raising four kids by the time she was 20–taught Cammie to be a fighter.

Cammie went from being a free-school-lunch kid to working in the Obama White House, helping pass the Affordable Care Act. She fought for immigrant rights with Amnesty International and has always worked to ensure government delivers for working families.

A mom of three raising her own family in Montclair, Cammie is running for Congress to lower costs and build a stronger, fairer economy for New Jersey families.

“Running for Congress was never part of my plan,” Croft said in a video announcing her campaign. “But I realized that one day my kids will ask me what I did, and when they ask, I need to be able to tell them that I did everything I possibly could.”

Cammie’s work will build on the strong foundation laid by Congresswoman–and now Governor-elect–Mikie Sherrill. Cammie will continue the fight to protect health care, stand up to corruption, and deliver critical investments in infrastructure and education.
